BINTULU, November 1 – The Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Sultan of Selangor, Chancellor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants the role of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to be strengthened with its twin campus in Bintulu in line with the university's intention to expand technology transfer in the development of the Sarawak region.
He said that this collaboration was strengthened with the establishment of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at UPM Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) to meet the needs of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in the Borneo archipelago.
“"I believes that through the role of UPMKB can stand equally high and sit equally low in line with UPM Serdang Campus as a strategic twin campus and become a respected the tower of knowledge," he said at the 46th Convocation Ceremony of UPMKB 1st Session, at Sri Kenyalang Hall, UPMKB here, today.
He also expressed his gratitude to the Sarawak Premier, The Honorable Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg for his support and trust in UPMKB in working together with the state government to develop the State of Sarawak towards the Modern State 2030.
At the convocation today, he awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D), Master's, Bachelor's and Diplomas to 405 graduands of various programmes.
Chancellor UPM also presented the prize to all University Prize Winners, namely the Live Animals Medical Centre Prize for Best Graduand Degree, sponsored by Live Animals Medical Centre to Aisyah Pratiwi Suryanto Sugian from the Bachelor of Bioindustry Science, UPMKB and Yvonne Sing Sai Hoi Excellence Prize (Best Diploma Graduand) to Jaime Lazaroo from the Diploma in Agricultural Engineering, UPMKB. –UPM
