The Faculty of Agricultural Science and Forestry (FSPH), Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) organized the Nyungkakka Penemu program: The Importance of Agriculture and Career Opportunities at Dewan Sri Kenyalang UPMKB, Bintulu on 16 January.
The partnership program was also attended and enlivened with the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Syarif Laksamana Perlis Dato' Seri DiRaja Syed Razlan Syed Putra Jamalullail (Chairman of the Board of Directors of UPM), Yang Berbahagia Prof. Dr. Nazami Saari (Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation UPM), Yang Berbahagia Pro.f Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini (Director of UPMKB Campus) and invited guest Yang Berusaha Dr. Chua Kim Aik (Chief Executive Officer of Green World Genetics Sdn Bhd).
Prof. Shahrul Razid in his welcome speech expressed his deepest appreciation to Chua for his willingness to share his experience and expertise in the seed industry with the officers and students.
The Nyungkakka Penemu Program is an initiative by FSPH as a platform to share and provide public exposure on various topics related to agriculture and forestry, as well as to strengthen ties and cooperation with agencies and industries such as Green World Genetics Sdn Bhd and others.
The word "Nyungkakka Penemu" is derived from the Iban language which means adding or empowering knowledge.
Among the main points highlighted by Dato' Seri DiRaja Syed Razlan and Dr. Chua during the sharing session were food safety issues, career opportunities in the agriculture sector and so on.
A total of 115 staff and 570 students attended and enliven the Nyungkakka Penemu program: The Importance of Agriculture and Career Opportunities.
