BINTULU, 9 APRIL 2023 - In this fast-growing era of technology, E-Sport or E-Sports sports involving video games are gaining popularity among young people. This is evidenced by the success of the "BACK TO CENTURY: CS SOURCE 2023" Tournament, organized by CS Club Students Session 2022 /2023 and has received encouraging response from students of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus.
According to Mohamad Adam Hafizi Bin Tahah, Director of the "BACK TO CENTURY: CS SOURCE 2023" Program, the tournament aims to increase students' interest in E-Sport sports by enhancing problem-solving skills as well as other soft skills such as organizational skills, collaboration, creative and critical thinking.
Such programs should be encouraged among university students as they help develop important soft skills and provide new experiences to those who are directly and indirectly involved. The Head of the Department of Science and Technology, UPMKB, Dr. Wan Nor Zanariah binti Zainol @ Abdullah, also took the opportunity to give a brief speech and comment on the success of this program which is the first E-Sport competition organized by the department. He also congratulated the members of the CS Club on the success of the program which was successfully conducted in just two weeks.
The tournament involves 40 participants who make up 8 teams, each team consists of 5 members. During the closing ceremony, the "Ukai Team Me" team was crowned champion, followed by the "CS Club" team as the runner-up, and the "Maradone" team finished third.
Overall, the "BACK TO CENTURY: CS SOURCE 2023" Championship has achieved remarkable success, demonstrating the growing popularity of E-Sport and the importance of developing soft skills in line with technical competencies.
