Why do we need to act immediately with food security?

Build Startup Based on Food Security Within 54 Hours Through This Program. According to the Food Safety and Quality Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, food security is a situation where everyone at all times has the physical, social and economic capacity to access ENOUGH, SAFE and NUTRITIOUS food, which can meet the nutritional needs and food choices for an active and healthy life.

However, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the food security crisis has intensified as countries around the world impose various restrictions. This has affected food chains around the world, leaving millions of the world's population having difficulty getting enough food, let alone safe and nutritious.

This crisis is a global crisis, which has also affected the community in Sarawak and Malaysia, in general.

Techstars Startup Weekend Bintulu is committed to addressing this crisis through innovative solutions for the people

of Sarawak As such, Startup Weekend Bintulu organised an initiative to build a strong food security ecosystem in Sarawak. The move will begin by calling on innovators, designers and startup talents across Sarawak to come forward and contribute their ideas.

Through the Techstars Startup Weekend Bintulu 2022 programme, participants will learn to think, work and build a startup focused on the food security sector within 54 hours. In this 3-day time frame, you will be guided by the best mentors, investors, co-founders and sponsors in the industry. Most importantly, you will be taught about how to build it fast and start a business.

This time, Startup Weekend Bintulu focuses on the food security sector on the basis of the realization that the growing human population is also increasing the demand for safe, readily available and nutritious food. Therefore, food security needs to be at a good level so that all levels of society have access to daily food without having to think about the high cost.

The innovations that will be brought during this program are certainly the first step to dealing with this crisis and ensuring that all individuals get enough food.

Startup Weekend Bintulu 2022 will be held from 26 to 28 August 2022 (Friday to Sunday) at TEGAS Digital Innovation Hub Bintulu. The programme covers the following activities;

The Bintulu 2022 Startup Weekend is open to the public aged 17 years and above including entrepreneurs, working adults, school students, as well as university and institute students.
