The Clean The Beach Programme was held at the Marine PDRM Operations Headquarters Region 5, Bintulu, on 18 June 2022 (Saturday) organized by the TKP3206 Aquaculture Development Course, Agriaqua Club, Department of Animal Science and Fisheries UPM Bintulu Campus, Operations Headquarters of PDRM Marine Region 5, Bintulu, as well as Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).
The objective of this program is to hone the students' abilities in planning and leading the program as well as to expose UPMKB students in fostering team spirit in implementing a program. Not only that, the programme also had an impact on the participants, where participants were able to emphasize environmental hygiene in the care of the sustainability of aquatic life ecosystems.
A total of 47 participants comprising Bachelor of Aquaculture Science, Bachelor of Bioindustrial Sciences, Bachelor of Forestry Science, Marine Police Force Region 5, Bintulu, as well as volunteers from Bintulu Development Authority (BDA). Cleaning activities around the jetty area of the Marine PDRM Operations Headquarters Region 5, Bintulu, were carried out with the participants and managed to collect various types of garbage. Among the rubbish collected include clothes, pipes, baskets, slippers and 'ordinary' rubbish such as plastic, plastic bottles, drinking water boxes, empty cans, containers and food wrappers.
Through this programme, it is hoped that more people are aware of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness, especially aquatic living ecosystems. Dumping waste into the river will affect the ecosystem that is supposed to be well cared for. Thus, the nature of the dumping of waste into the river should not be applied in every individual so that aquatic life can be maintained while also adopting a responsible attitude towards environmental care.
