MIRI – Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) has received an allocation of RM1 Million from the Sarawak Timber Industry Development Organisation (PUSAKA). This endowment-shaped allocation is also known as PUSAKA-UPM.
It is a form of cooperation between STIDC and UPMKB in the field of research and development in the aspects of Tropical Forest and Plant Forest Management, Food Safety and Renewable Energy.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Exchange Ceremony was held on 23 June 2023 at Pullman Miri Waterfront. It was officiated by YBhg. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd. Roslan Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Datu Haji Hashim Haji Bojet, General Manager of STIDC and witnessed by YB Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources II and Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak Chairman of the Management Board of PUSAKA.
This historic moment was made during the 50th Anniversary Dinner of PUSAKA at the Northern Territory Office Level. The representatives of UPMKB were Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini (Director of Campus, UPMKB), Dr. Zamri Rosli (Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Science & Forestry, UPMKB), En. Noor Hakim Ahmad (Head of Administration, UPMKB), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Kian Huat (Assoc. Prof., Forestry Science Department, Faculty of Agricultural Science & Forestry, UPMKB) and Mr. Mohamad Syukri Mohamad Adnan (Senior Assistant Registrar, UPMKB). .
