PUTRA BAKTI@ AGRICULTURAL INNOVATION COMPETITION UNEARTHS STUDENTS' IDEAS TO PRODUCE NEW AGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONS

Program Putra Bakti@ Agricultural Innovation Competition organized by students of QKI2101 Innovation and Invention Course (Group 1), Second Semester of Academic Session 2021/2022, was recently conducted at Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB). Program director Venmathiy Jaya Kumar said the aim of the programme was to uncover the ideas of the students to come up with new innovations in agriculture that will provide convenience to farmers in the future.

In addition, the participants were able to further strengthen their knowledge on modern agriculture. According to course facilitator Dr Walter Charles Primus, the programme consists of three slots containing knowledge sharing from speakers with extensive experience in modern agriculture, "Mini Games" and agricultural-themed innovation competitions. The whole programme is open to students of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus.

The Putra Bakti@Agricultural Innovation Competition program has been held on April 16, 2022 and webinar: Agriculture Innovation Talk on April 17, 2022 online through the Cisco Webex application. Putra Bakti@ Agricultural Innovation Competition is the first slot of this program. This match has been accompanied by five groups and one individually.

In this competition participants are required to make a presentation within 15 minutes; The presentation must contain an introduction to the group members, the problems to be realized, the solution, the solution, the presentation/ demonstration of the products provided, the manufacturing process of the products, the materials used and the impact of the product on the community involved in agriculture.

The competition was evaluated by Mohd Saufi Mohd Ramli and Dr John Keen Chubo. Next, the second day of the program begins with the Webinar: Agriculture Innovation Talk. This webinar has taken place virtually. The slot entitled Smart Agriculture: Challenges and Oppurtunities was presented by McGood Agro Solution Company CEO Make Jiwan.

The second day's program was also complemented by "mini games" such as kuiz related to agriculture and innovation. There are 10 winners who have won cash as prizes for the kuiz and kahoot that have been held.

The talk discussed the problems that arise in agriculture, reviewed the use of the most relevant technologies as well as highlighted the existing technologies in the agricultural sector of the country. For Agricultural Innovation Competition The Gear Z Group has won first place by providing fertilizing that can fertilize with the right quantity of each plant.

The second place was won by the YB Joe Group which has provided water containers that make it easier for farmers. The third place was won by the Prizmy Group which came up with an app that could be used to sell local produce.

Finally, the fourth place (sago hati) has been won by individual participant Chiah Yi Hua with his innovation of plant builders.
