PUTRA BAKTI PROGRAM: GREAT LEADER, GREAT COMMUNICATOR LEVEL OF COMMUNICATION PROFICIENCY AND LEADERSHIP OF SCHOOL STUDENTS

BINTULU June 18, - The skills to communicate effectively are among the important skills that everyone, especially students, need to have as they are potential leaders of the country or society in the future.

A person's communication style describes his leadership style. Realising this, students of QKT2101 Art of Submission (Group 101), Second Semester of Academic Session 2021/2022, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) had organised the Putra Bakti: Great Leader, Great Communicator programme on 18 June 2022.

The main purpose of the implementation of this programme is to further empower students' talents in their leadership by using appropriate speech and language styles. The one-day programme was conducted at the Islamic Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus with the participation of 68 participants.

The objective of the programme is to strengthen the soft skills that have been learned throughout the Art of Submission course as well as to expand the self-experience on the physical handling and implementation of the program. Two interesting topics were presented in the programme, namely Effective Leadership Communication which was presented by Mr. Nalong Buda, Senior Agriculture Officer of Putra Agricultural Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus while the title of Mind of a great communicator was presented by Tuan Major Langet Chok, Chairman of the Bintulu Division Drug Rehabilitation Committee, Head of Company, Company C, 2nd Battalion 510W Regiment.

In the afternoon, the participants had the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from both talks held in the morning through Group Training activities. This session provides a space for participants to highlight talents and abilities in the application of soft skills that are essential for self-brilliance in each individual.

The souvenir presentation session ended the programme and the average participant gave positive feedback and hoped that such a program can be continued in the future in producing students with strong communication knowledge in order to become a person who is leading, competent and a good example to the community.
