TECHNICAL COURSE ON QUAIL FARMING AND COMPOST PROCESSING AT UPMKB ON 14 MAY 2022

BINTULU: Putra Agricultural Centre (PPP), Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) will be organising the Technical Course on Quail Farming and Compost Processing at the Briefing Hall, UPMKB Administration Building (Theory) and Shared Farm 2, Quail Unit and Poultry Hatching Centre (Practical) on 14 May 2022.

The course will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Senior Agriculture Officer of Putra UPMKB Agricultural Centre, Dr Carlina Freddie Simol when contacted explained that the course was to provide exposure to the public on theories related to quail farming as a whole covering the needs of infrastructure, housing and management, nutrition, health management and management of quails after hatching (breeding, growing and feeding).

In addition, practical exercises / amali quail egg selection techniques for the purpose of hardening and hatching as well as manual and small incubator manufacturing / earning techniques will be provided.

Practical compost making through quail subsistence will be handled by Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Agricultural And Forestry Sciences Dr John Keen Chubo.

The Deputy Director of PPP UPMKB, Assoc Prof Dr Amy Halimah Rajaee also added that the programme is expected to receive an encouraging response as the demand for quail products is able to bring a decent income and gain a place in the local and international markets.

According to him again, this course is one of a series of courses that have been designed in 2022 in realizing the 'University4Society' program through the Agricultural Technology Transfer Course and agricultural development activities with the general public.

This course will be implemented in accordance with the new SOPs and norms outlined by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) especially on the aspect of physical distancing and 3W practices in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Hence, the public is urged not to miss this golden opportunity as the course admission fee is very affordable.

The fee covers the cost of food and beverages, certificates of participation and course notes. The course registration form is available through the official website of the www.btu.upm.edu. my and the closing date for entries is on or before 9 May 2022.
