Feb 15, 2020, as many as 1000 seedlings of Engkabang Jantong, Kapor, Ensurai and Belian tree species were successfully planted by 200 participants comprising of UPM Bintulu Campus students and staff from Sime Darby Plantation, Bintulu during the Forest Tree Planting & Riparian Buffer Zone Conservation Programme @ Sarawak Region.
The programme has been a collaboration between Sime Darby Plantation & Foundation, UPM Bintulu Campus and the Sarawak Forest Department. The programme was officiated by YBhg. Tuan Jack Liam, Deputy Director of Forestry Sarawak; En. Rajikumar V Ramasamy, Regional Chief Executive Officer, Sime Darby Plantation (Sarawak); and Dr. Mohammad Maulana bin Magiman, Head of Corporate Strategy and Communication Office, UPMKB.
The programme also saw an exchange of letters of intent between Sime Darby Plantation with Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus on conservation programmes in Northern Sarawak. Also present at the programme were the senior officers from all agencies involved.
