On Behalf of our Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Samsul Rizal, M.Eng., IPU, We would like to inform you about "RISING STAR AGRI-FOOD INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2021".

Rising Star Agri-Food Innovation Challenge 2021 (“the Challenge”) aims to catalyse, accelerate and scale-up cutting-edge solutions that unlock the potential of the countries’ and regions’ agri-food systems, for and by youth.  The Challenge is the first-ever and largest agri-food-focused student competition spread across Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. It is also the first such initiative of the relationship with plans for other collaborative programmes and initiatives throughout 2021.

The Challenge calls on the most committed and passionate local undergraduate and graduate students across all academic disciplines in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand with digital innovations or ideas for the agri-food sector to innovate and build sustainable and inclusive food systems that are healthy for society and the planet. From science and engineering, to computer science and design, from agriculture to architecture, and everything in between, students are encouraged to tap into their expertise and next-gen skillset, unleash their creativity, and apply their digital savviness and purpose-driven mindsets to address the urgent challenges facing the agri-food sector.   

Participants in the Rising Star AgriFood Innovation Challenge have the chance to win the Grand Prize of US$5,000 and the Runner-Up Prize of US$2,500, which will be awarded per country. The Grand Prize winner and Runner Up will also be named as the National Semi-Finalists in the Thought For Food Global Challenge, the world’s largest and most diverse innovation competition in food and agriculture that kicks off in April. 

We are calling on your support and cooperation to promote and garner participation from your students via your institution’s network and communication channels. It is truly a not-to-be-missed opportunity for the students to gain exposure to a global-standard challenge whose impact is for the greater good of our planet.

To ensure their successful eligible participation, we would encourage, where possible, professors and other leaders in the university to assist with time for students to participate as collaboration and mentorship is highly encouraged.

Let’s work towards the next TFF Global Challenge champion to come from Asia and it may even be from your university!
