Bintulu, 11 June 2023 - The Youth Biodiversity Science Camp 2023 (YBSC2023) was held from 9 to 11 June 2023 around Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus today. A total of 20 Form 2 students of MRSM Mukah participated in various activities during the programme.

 

Among the activities carried out were group training (LDK), Night Walk, Flora and Fauna Recognition, YBSC Explorace, Picnic Wild, Frogging, Self-resilience and Biodiversity Interest Talk to the Young Generation which was delivered by General Manager Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd.

 

The Closing Ceremony of YBSC2023 was attended by YBhg Tn. Haji Zainal Abidin bin Haji Abdullah, General Manager of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd, Dr. Zamri bin Rosli, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, Dr. Norul Izani binti Md Allwi, Head of Forestry Science Department, Dr. Ahmad Mustapha bin Mohamad Pazi, YBSC2023 Programme Director, Ms Rabiatul Adawiah binti Mustafar, MRSM Officer Mukah, Forestry Science Department Staff, facilitator of the programme from among the Bachelor of Forestry Science Students with Honours and Diploma in Forestry as well as YBSC2023 Programme Participants.

 

The Closing Ceremony of the YBSC2023 Programme was officiated by Tn. Haji Zainal Abidin bin Haji Abdullah, General Manager of Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd. In his closing speech, the YBSC2023 programme is an excellent platform in providing early education on the importance of forest biodiversity among primary secondary school students. In addition, with the cooperation done by the University and MRSM in the success of this program, it can improve soft skills for participants and facilitators. He also hopes that the programme can be continued in the future by involving more students.
