The World Soil Day(#WorldSoilDay) program was held successfully from 5 to 6 December 2022 at the Dewan Sidang, UPMKB organized by the Department of Crop Science (JST), Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry, UPMKB in collaboration with the Malaysian Soil Science Association (MSSS).

 

This 2-day program brings the theme Soils: Where Food Begins aims to raise awareness of the importance of healthy ecosystems and universal human well-being in the face of various land management challenges.

 

This program highlights 3 types of competitions, namely short videos, posters, and soil or plant models/specimens involving categories of students from JST or non-JST and managed to collect 40 diploma and Bachelor program students.

 

The participation of the students is based on the concept of the World Soil Day celebration this year as well as inculcating the elements of student-centered learning (SCL).

 

Through such programs, the application of good values and the availability of students on the current situation especially involving soil in Malaysia will also be achieved.
