BINTULU: The BAKSIS Day (Putra Bakti@AnimEX 4.0)' program received encouraging response from the local community here, yesterday.

The program, held at the Sri Kenyalang Hall of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), aims to inculcate the importance of special skills in the care of pets, reptiles, and aquatic animals.

The program was organised by Students of the QKK2101 Bakti Pelajar (Group 1) Co-curriculum Course, 1st Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Session which emphasized the 'Immersive Face-to-Face' method of learning to the participants and the public.

The QKK2101 Bakti Student Group 1 facilitator Roslan Ismail said the program in conjunction with the 46th Convocation Ceremony (1st Session) on 1 November 2022 which was held for the first time at UPMKB was a continuation of the success of the AnimEX program held in March 2020.

“The aim of the organization is to foster awareness among the community on the importance of special skills of care for pets, reptiles and aquatic animals,” he said here, yesterday.

Apart from that, he said, the livestock species found in UPMKB can be exhibited, thus potentially becoming a platform for knowledge sharing in the animal husbandry industry that also generates the economic development of the country.

“The BAKSIS Day (Putra Bakti @AnimEX 4.0) is also able to enhance the soft skills of students and students as well as encourage the involvement of the local community at all ages,” he said.

Roslan said it is an approach through knowledge transfer, sensory learning, improving language development and strengthening family ties.

In addition to animal exhibitions, there was also a talk on ‘Diseases and Care for Street Cats’ by Ts Dr Suhaili Mustafa, ‘How the pandemic affects animals’ (Dr Chan Siew Leng), ‘Zoo pet’ (Dr Siti Nurhani Arib) and ‘Fish Care’ (Dr Wan Zabidii Wan Morni).

The program was a competition for the design of pet clothing, demonstrations of the K9 Unit of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and so on.
