KUCHING, Sept 22 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) will establish the Faculty of Veterinary and Farming (FVP) at Bintulu Campus to further drive and strengthen the agriculture and food security agenda.
In this effort, UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail chaired the meeting of the establishment of FPV Bintulu Campus at the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department Headquarters here, yesterday.
He, who is currently the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, said the objective of the establishment of this faculty is to produce more veterinary doctors in Sarawak as well as to support the proposed establishment of the Sarawak Livestock Industry Board and an alternative to the Malaysian Veterinary Institute in Kluang.
It is clear that through this meeting, a number of matters were achieved, namely the governance of the study program, finance and administration for the purification of concept papers.
Meanwhile, the meeting was also chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development of Sarawak, Sirai Daha, for the purification of the concept paper on the establishment of FVP in Kuching, Sarawak.
Also present were the Director of Sarawak Services Department, Dr. Adrian Susin Ambud, Director of UPMKB, Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dato' Prof. Dr. Azmi Lela, and Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry UPMKB, Dr. Zamri Rosli and Head of Human Resource Management Division, Registrar's Office, Suhana Md Chairi.
