UPMKB RECEIVED SEVERAL AWARDS AT THE 2022-2023 ICAN CEREMONY

Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) achieved great success when it received several awards at the Industry and Community Appreciation Awards Ceremony (ICAN) 2022-2023 at Masmera Ballroom 1 Everly Hotel, Putrajaya last Tuesday.

A UPMKB spokesperson said that the awards ceremony organized by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Networks (JINM) UPM ICAN 2022/2023 is the 10th bi-annual event which aims to recognize and appreciate the contributions of industry partners, the community and UPM campus residents throughout 2021 and 2022.

He said, ICAN also presented awards to the best academic officers, non-academic officers and UPM students involved in high-impact industry and community networking projects.

“PThis best network project has been evaluated by a panel member who looks at high-impact projects that reach the level of four or five stars,” he said in a statement here, yesterday.

He said the project also shows sustainability and has reached a level of empowerment in the community.

Meanwhile, the ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (JINM) of UPM, Prof Ir Dr BT Hang Tuah Baharudin.

The academic officer who received the award under the Best Industrial Network Project 2021 (Academic Officer) is Prof Dr Patricia King Jie Hung who is the Head of the Potential Use of Industrial Sludge Waste in Agriculture Project and Associate Prof Dr Ong Kian Huat for the Head of the Bambusetum Establishment Project at Putra University Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus.

The recipient of the Best Community Network Project 2022 award for Non-Academic Officers is Joyce Morris Kapong who leads the Iban Community Agricultural Skills Development Program Project in Rumah Jungan Village, Bintulu Sarawak.

In addition, for the Best Industry Partner 2021 award is the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts (MTCP) (Kursi Pehin Sri Adenan Satem) and the Best Industry Partner 2022 is the Office of the Premier of Sarawak for the AgriHub Paddy Planting Transformation Project in Gedong.

While Best Community Partner 2021 was won by Kampung Bako Community, Kuching Sarawak for the Management and Fertilizer Making Program from Solid Waste and Kitchen Waste towards Environmental Sustainability under Ts Dr Nozieana Khairuddin.

This was followed by Best Community Partner 2022 held by the Bintulu Sarawak Single House Community for the Agricultural Skills Development Program of the Iban Community in the Sarawak Bintulu Single House Village under Joyce Morris Kapong.

Also present at the event was UPMKB Campus Director Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini.
