UPMKB EMPOWERS SMK BINTULU STUDENTS WITH COMPUTER SKILLS

BINTULU- Service Learning Malaysia (SULAM) program, a valuable learning approach that combines academic studies, community engagement, and practical experience. SULAM is a compulsory course applied in the learning curriculum at Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus as it involves the addition of knowledge from students to the community for the development of the community around the University.
 
On 3 and 4 February, 18 Second Year Diploma in Computer Science students led by Muhammad Ilhan Naquib bin Kamarul Zaman held a two-day Sulam @ Computer Science Powershop workshop at SMK Bintulu, Sarawak.
 
The SULAM program was held to enhance the organizational skills, teamwork, critical thinking, and creativity of students. A total of 54 participants from Form 3 and 4 students were involved in the Sulam program. There are various exciting activities, including explorace, Minecraft, and PowerPoint presentations using the latest features such as Morph and Zoom to improve the computer skills of SMK Bintulu students.
 
Despite the challenges in terms of, limited computer facilities, program sponsorship and others, Diploma in Computer Science students managed to run the program successfully. At the end of the program, participants take pictures as a memory with the school and students. The program was officiated by Dr. Wan Nor Zanariah Binti Zainol @ Abdullah and praised the ability of this program to benefit the students and the community.
 
“This program is able to provide various benefits and benefits to the students especially not to give up and have the motivation to continue learning and achieve a bright future as success does not come” said Dr. Wan Nor Zanariah Binti Zainol @ Abdullah as the head of the Department of Science and Technology during the closing session of the program.
 
The success of the SULAM program demonstrates the power of education to have a positive impact on society. By fostering knowledge sharing and community development, this program represents the values of academic excellence and community engagement held by Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus.
