On 6 October 2023, the research team of the AgriHub@Gedong Paddy Transformation Project from UPMKB attended Premier Sarawak on a site visit to Kampung Lubok Punggor, Gedong.

 

During the visit, UPMKB was also invited to give a presentation on the progress and project planning report AgriHub@Gedong presented by the Director of UPMKB Campus, Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini as the Project Head.

 

The main focus of AgriHub@Gedong project is to transform rice cultivation in terms of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), smart farming (IoT) and sustainability.

 

Project members who were also present were Prof. Madya Dr. Amy Halimah Rajaee, Ts. Dr. Shiamala Devi Ramaiya, Ts. Dr. Muhammad Huzaifah bin Mohd Roslim, Dr. Mohd Hamim bin Abdul Aziz and Mr. Mohammad Zarith bin Majeri.

 

The Premier visit session was also attended by Sarawak Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Provincial Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, Sarawak Government Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister of Village and Provincial Progress of Malaysia, Datuk Rubiah Wang, Member of Parliament Batang Sadong Rodiyah Sapiee, Member of the State Legislative Council (ADUN) Pakan Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom, ADUN Gedong special representative Datuk Mohamad Naroden Majais, Samarahan City Division Resident Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, Sarawak Land and Survey Department Director Datu Abdullah Julaihi and other invited guests.
