On 30 November 2022 (Wednesday) the "1 RAS 1 Tree" Tree Planting and Riverbank Conservation Program 2022 was held at UPMKB's Nirwana Forest.

 

The program was sponsored by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and jointly organized by the Department of Environment Bintulu Branch and Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences, UPMKB. About 80 people were involved in the program comprising Bachelor of Forestry Science, UPMKB Officer, Petronas Carigali and Bintulu Branch Department of Environment.

 

The tree planting program on the riverbanks in UPMKB's Nirwana Forest aims to strengthen the riverbanks and reduce erosion and indirectly improve the habitat and life of the river. This greening programme will also reduce the impact of global warming and become a green lung for the Bintulu community.

 

In this program, 200 local forest saplings were planted consisting of the Engkabang Hati (Shorea macrophylla) and Plajau (Pentaspadon motleyi) species.
