THE FIRST “PUTRA PAWSIONATE: CHARITY PET FAIR” PROGRAM ORGANIZED BY UPMKB STUDENTS AT THE SPRING BINTULU, SARAWAK

BINTULU: 8 to 9 April, the Putra Bakti "Putra Pawsionate" Program at The Spring Mall Bintulu is one of the programs implemented to save stray cats and dogs by providing free anti-rabies vaccine on the day of the program. Over a thousand visitors attended the program and gave good feedback. To further enliven the program. The Director of UPMKB Campus, Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini was also present to provide support for the success of the program. Not only that, YB Johnny Pang Leong Ming also participated and encouraged the program.

The program is also supported by pet industry traders throughout Sarawak and Sabah in terms of participation, assistance, recommendations, and donations. Notably, support from The Spring Bintulu, Hope4Stray Bintulu, Nature Vet Sdn Bhd, YQS Resources, Angelic Pets, Cature Malaysia, Pet ID Malaysia, The Little Pet Shop Bintulu, MyPets, Nimanja Bintulu, Candy Pet Kitchen, B. Your Pet Care, In Mood Pet Snacks. This program is the first program organized by UPMKB students and received warm response from the local community as well as from the districts around Bintulu, Sarawak.

This program gained a place in the hearts of the community with the lively response shown by the visitors by participating in the activities provided such as colouring activities, 'fashion show' for children, dogs and cats. On the first day, there was a show from Bintulu police which is the dog of Unit K9. Unit K9 Dog is the PDRM Detection Dog Unit to assist the police in carrying out investigations. The Bintulu Police Chief also answered some of the questions raised by the visitors.

The Deworming given free of charge to the community is sponsored by UPMKB veterinary clinic. The local community took advantage of the opportunities provided by bringing pets for provided treatments such as anti-rabies vaccines and deworming.

The Putra Pawsionate program also received contributions from YB Bintulu, YB Johnny Pang Leong Ming. In addition, Hope4Stray Bintulu also participated in the program by conducting adoption activities; once with the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVS) for anti-rabies vaccine activities. The program also received support from Doctor Teoh Kah Ying, Veterinary Surgeon from Furkids Wellness Centre and Dogtorteoh to share and vaccinate pets. As a token of gratitude for their support in the success of this program, Putra Pawsionate has contributed to Hope4Stray, UPMKB Veterinary Clinic, and 'Putra Food Bank' UPMKB.
