The Sg. Asap Community Empowerment Program for Integrated Intervention of Community Development Trapped By Social Issues was successfully held from 13 to 15 January 2023 at Lebu' Kulit, Sungai Asap, Belaga.
The program was organized by Bachelor of Science in Human Development with the Management of the 1st Semester Session 2022/2023 with the Sarawak Social Development Council, Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing and in collaboration with Belaga District Office, Kapit Social Welfare Office, AADK Sibu District and Bintulu District, Bintulu Health Clinic, Sarawak Customs Council, Sarawak Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) and DDW Consultancy Sdn Bhd.
The 3-day 2-night program was implemented to meet the requirements of the Community Development Introductory Course (FEM3331). The objective of this program is to expose students to community empowerment through programs by helping to empower grassroots leaders with knowledge and skills to assist the community in addressing social issues as well as building social support networks in dynamic communities based on the spirit of solidarity between rural communities and intellectuals.
Among the components of this program are foster families, information sharing, interactive forums, intervention advisory and reference services, family visitation, fun-learning activities, solidarity activities, folk and cultural sports and reflection programs. The Closing Ceremony of the Program was officiated by YB Mr Kennedy Chukpai Ugon ADUN Murum.
