On 15 July 2022, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) with the Sarawak State Department of Environment and with the collaboration of the premises of Pertama Ferrroalloys Sdn Bhd, Samalaju successfully organised the "1 RAS 1 POKOK" programme and the "Service Learning Malaysia University for Society" (SULAM) Programme in conjunction with the World Environment Day Celebration 2022 at Samalaju Industrial Park,  Bintulu, Sarawak.

The programme was officiated by Encik Hamzah Bin Haji Mohamad, Director of the Sarawak State Environment Department was also enlivened by the presence of honorary guests Mr. Yuki Nakamura, First General Manager of Ferroalloys Sdn. Bhd. and Dr. Zamri Bin Rosli, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Forestry UPMKB. The programme, conducted by the Programme Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Geoffery James Gerusu from UPMKB with Encik Abdul Mazli Hafiz Bin Abdul Malik from the Department of Environment Bintulu Division and Mr. Morris Anak Andom from Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd, was participated by 80 participants comprising UPMKB staff, Department of Environment Kuching and Bintulu Division and representatives of the First premises ferroalloys Sdn Bhd. A total of 85 saplings from two (2) local species namely Kelat Swamp and Tekoma were successfully planted in the ceremony of the day. This program has been fully sponsored by Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd.
