PUTRA UPTOWN 3.0 RECEIVES A WARM WELCOME

BINTULU: Putra Uptown 3.0, which houses a sales site for various goods, received a warm reception with many visitors in the grounds of the Islamic Center of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) on March 9 (Saturday).

This program is organized by the QKH2104 Credit Co-Curriculum Course (Group 1), Second Semester Academic Session 2024/2025 is an extension of the success of the same 2.0 program..

This program has become a platform for the UPMKB community and its surroundings to engage in entrepreneurial activities.

Facilitator QKH2104 Student Entrepreneur Group 1 Dr Sharon Ong Yong Yee said that Putra Uptown 3.0 is a platform to stimulate entrepreneurial spirit in the community. 

“The purpose of organizing this program is to improve students' soft skills and encourage community involvement, thus fostering awareness of the importance of the courage to start a business as the foundation of the country's economic development.” she said.

This program also attracts the participation of Human Development Diploma students who take the FEM2204 Entrepreneurship Development course in the hope of expanding the impact and benefits of entrepreneurship. 

Its program director, Amira Nazira Abdullah said, organizing this program was a very valuable experience for her and the committee members were involved considering that every step of the process from planning to implementation opens up opportunities for learning and growth.

She said, they had the opportunity to work with various stakeholders, listen to perspectives and ideas from different angles and overcome unexpected challenges. 

"This experience taught us not only about entrepreneurship but also the importance of collaboration, communication and valuable community to take advantage of," she said.

In addition to the sales site, a Cake Decorating Workshop conducted by Quratula'in Bohari and Nur Laila Wani Raini from Yummy Delicious Bakery was also held.

In the meantime, Dr Sharon Ong Yong Yee also shared about the ``sensory (sense) and organoleptic test (taste, smell, appearance color)'' strategy for the success of the cake market.  

A cake decorating competition was also held featuring the talent and creativity of the participants, witnessing UPMKB student Nur Aina Mardhiyah Romainoor emerge as the winner when her work managed to attract the attention of the judges with its unique decoration.
