PPP UPMKB ORGANISES COURSE ON DUCK FARMING

Putra Agricultural CENTRE (PPP) Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) had organised the Penelur Duck Farming Course on 27 August at the 2A Central Lecture Hall, UPMKB Central Academic Complex. A total of 53 participants from all parts of Sarawak participated in this one-day course.

The Designation Officer, Putra Agricultural Centre UPMKB Nalong Buda, as the course coordinator explained that the course was aimed at exposing participants to the general needs and health management of ducks in general and ducks especially, the preparation and production of feed for ducks, the potential of duck farming, the potential of duck farming to generate income and improve the socio-economics of its participants and the rural population in general as well as to provide opportunities for farm operators to  obtain proper knowledge in the management of duck breeding of ducks to obtain high quality results.

According to Deputy Director of the Putra Agricultural Centre UPMKB Assoc Prof Dr Amy Halimah Rajaee, this course is the fourth of eight courses planned in 2022 in realising the University for Society (U4S) or IPT for Society@Keluarga Malaysia (UNITY) programme through an agricultural technology transfer program based on the advancement and well-being of the community.

Areas of effort such as the breeding of ducks are suitable for mothers or retirees as a hobby to fill their free time as well as lucrative returns as duck eggs are always in high demand in the local market.

This area of effort is also not too burdensome for entrepreneurs like some other areas of effort as it is not "labour intensive" and even is a healthy and profitable hobby.

PPP UPMKB would like to thank all parties directly involved and not directly in the success of this course. Appreciation speech is also aimed at the Director of UPMKB Campus, Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini for always providing encouragement and support to PPP UPMKB to organize such courses with fee payment

the minimum to leverage the area of expertise possessed by academic officers and non-academic officers of UPMKB in order to be expanded to the local community especially and the general public in general in line with UPM's sacred motto 'Berilmu Berbakti.'
