BINTULU: PROGRAM PEERs EMPOWERMENT AND INTEGRATION CAMP (PEERs POINT Camp) program was held for three days and two nights recently organized by Peer Counselors, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Branch Mukah Campus, Institut Kemahiran MARA Bintulu Sarawak and Politeknik Mukah. Participation in this program consists of members of the club/association Peer Counselors and advisors or unit counsellors from each institution. The program was also conducted at Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus.

The program was held to train and enhance the skills of PRS members in providing psychological support and assistance services as well as as a liaison bridge to counselling services in institutions of higher learning to address mental health issues among students of higher learning institutions that are now on the rise. In addition, the cooperation between the four institutions has also achieved the common objective as well as strengthening the mutual relationship.

Head of Student Affairs of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), Dr Kamil Latif officiated the closing ceremony of the PEERs Empowerment and Integration Camp program. He said that through the program, he was able to raise awareness to help themselves while enabling PRS members to help their peers around those in need. He said the role of members as peer mentors is huge to the university/institution.
