BINTULU: The Nada and Soutul Hidayah groups of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) were crowned champion in the male and female categories respectively at the 2023 Nasyid Maulidur Rasul 1445 Hijrah Competition here, Wednesday night.

 

The competition in conjunction with the 16th edition of the Borneo International Kite Festival Bintulu (BIKF) was held at Lasar Kenyalang Old Airport Site.

With the win, the two groups each received a cash prize of RM1,500 and a trophy.

 

Soutul Hidayah also embraced the title of Best Presentation which qualified them to receive prizes in the form of hampers and trophies delivered by the deputy general manager of the Bintulu Progress Board (BDA).

The competition organised by BDA saw the participation of 11 groups comprising eight groups of boys and four groups of girls involving local universities, schools and youths around Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

 

The nasyid competition which aims to hone the talents of participants raised the theme of da'wah that invites fellow humans to Islamic life and becomes the obligation of the Islamic community to preach, based on the words of the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W. which means: "Tell you from me even a piece of verse." (Hadith narrated by al-Bukhari)

 

Also witnessing the competition and providing support was the Director of UPMKB Campus Professor. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini, Principal of Kolej Sri Rajang UPMKB Dr. Kamil Latif, Head of UPMKB Administration as the group manager of Mr. Noor Hakim Ahmad, staff and students of UPMKB.
