BINTULU: Some of the matters discussed in terms of potential cooperation are seen to have a positive impact in the field of research in Malaysia and Sarawak.

It involved the Borneo EcoScience Institute (IEB) Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (LKTN), Syarikat Juta Walet Services & Trading and Syarikat Sinar Samalaju Sdn Bhd during a meeting between the five parties at IEB UPMKB here, recently.

At the meeting, UPMKB was represented by IEB Director Dr Syeed Saifulazry Osman Al-Edrus and LKTN represented by its Deputy Director General of Development Mohd Fadzhel Nasir.

Dr Syeed Saifulazry said, with the combination and collaboration in terms of knowledge, expertise, infrastructure, and research funds, it can increase the production capacity of related products to meet the needs of consumers at the national and international levels.

"IEB and UPMKB welcome this collaboration opportunity in line with UPMKB's mission to contribute to the formation of wealth and the development of the country as well as universal human progress through the exploration and dissemination of knowledge," he said.

Both parties also explained the functions, roles, capabilities, and direction at their respective agencies. 

Also present were representatives of universities, agencies and companies involved Dr Mugunthan Perumal and Zahora Ismail from UPMKB, Nik Norhisham Nik Yaacob, Mohd Azizi Awang (LKTN), Patrick Jenau Tindit (Million Walet Services & Trading Company), Lt Madya (R) Duke Janteng and Jacky Lanjar (Syarikat Sinar Samalaju Sdn Bhd).
