BINTULU: The Veterinary Clinic of the Department of Animal Science and Fisheries of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) in collaboration with Street Animal Rescuers Association (SARA) Bintulu held a mobile clinic in conjunction with the Merdeka Fiesta Pets Lover Fair 2023 here.

A spokesman for UPMKB said the programme was to foster public awareness on the importance of pet health care as well as about animal diseases. 

"We provide basic care to pet owners and services are offered free of charge such as animal health screening, worm medication treatment, mange and flea treatment and flu," he said in a statement today.

He said more than 200 animal owners attended the clinic for free treatment in the two-day programme.

Speaking at the opening of the programme, Tanjong Batu State Assemblyman Johnny Pang said the programme fostered the community's interest in understanding the importance of health care for their pets.

"This program also provides opportunities for all parties to work together to take care of pets," he explained.

At the same time, the programme also provides Adoptive Animals, Licensing and Microchip sessions for dogs by Bintulu Development Authority and free anti-rabies vaccine for dogs by Bintulu Veterinary Services Department.
