DO NOT SKIP SAHUR PROGRAM ASSIST UNDERPRIVILEGED STUDENTS

BINTULU: Recently, the Student Affairs Division, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) in collaboration with the Centre for Zakat, Wakaf and Endowment (WAZAN) and the College Representative Council, Sri Rajang College has organised a Do Not Skip Sahur Program involving 150 students in need. The inaugural program was presented by Dr. Kamil Latif, Principal of the College Head of Student Affairs, UPMKB.

According to Dr. Kamil Latif, the Don't Skip Sahur program was aimed at easing the burden of underprivileged students as well as to increase the motivation of students to continue to pursue knowledge even when they are away from their families.

Also present in the program was the Deputy President of the College Representative Council, Sri Rajang College, Brother Yashod A/L Subramaniam said, the cost-of-living factor in the cost of living in the price of goods and the increase in inflation caused students to be thrifty during Ramadan. This program will help students reduce their financial burden especially at the end of the semester.

Apart from the sahur assistance initiative to students, UPMKB's Student Affairs Division (BHEP) also provides Putra FoodBank to UPMKB students. Putra FoodBank is an initiative to help underprivileged students to get free food aid and necessities that are open daily (office hours).

Therefore, for individuals or agencies interested in helping these underprivileged students, BHEP, UPMKB welcomes donations in the form of finance or necessities such as food, drinks and other personal necessities to be donated to Putra FoodBank. Donation of goods can be sent directly to the Office of Student Affairs Division, 2nd Floor, Administration Building, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus. Contributions in the form of finance can be channeled directly to the 8005232086 account (CIMB Bank Berhad) in the name of UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA KAMPUS BINTULU – Reference: Putra FoodBank. If you have any concerns and questions, please contact Hairunisah Abdul Rahman directly, at 086-855657 or by email hairunisah@upm.edu.my.

It is hoped that such contributions will increase motivation and encourage underprivileged students to continue to succeed in academia.
