Campus Director of Universiti Putra Malaysia Campus Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sharbini successfully produced a scientific book that raised the title ‘Makanan Berfungsi: Seribu Satu Kebaikan’.

The book's writing work was written with her colleagues Prof Dr Patricia King Jie Hung and Siti Maisarah Mohd Nashri published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) with the launch of the Book Talk Programme last Saturday (17 June) at the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) Public Library Auditorium.

The book launching ceremony was officiated by BDA Secretary Wan Ibrahim Wan Ali and witnessed by DBP Sarawak Director Abang Haliman Abang July and Director of Borneo Ecoscience Institute UPM Syeed Saiful Azry Osman Al Edrus representing the Director of UPMKB.

A spokesman for UPMKB said it was the first time that a book of its kind written by UPMKB lecturers had been successfully published under DBP.

"The launch of the book is one of the activities of the Sarawak State Level Intellectual Carnival 2023 organised by DBP in conjunction with the 60 Years of Sarawak Merdeka," he said here, yesterday.

He said various other activities were also held during the carnival such as the Public Book Manuscript Procurement Workshop at the UPMKB Administration Building Training Room and the Book Sales Exhibition at UPMKB Library from 15 to 17 June 2023.

"The development of this manuscript workshop is seen as able to provide a space for lecturers especially in producing book writing works to be published according to their respective field expertise," the statement said.

He hoped that with the cooperation of DBP in the success of several similar programmes, UPMKB will be able to highlight the capabilities of UPMKB as the preferred higher education institution in Malaysia and the island of Borneo.
