BINTULU, 21 October 2023 - Students of Diploma in Human Development, 4th Semester, Session 2022/2023 from Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus, Sarawak under the guidance of 2 lecturers, namely Dr. Abdul Hadi and Dr. Rohaizahtulamni have organized the Ulu Sebauh Community Program located at Meikle Ding Longhouse, Ulu Sebauh, Sekutan.

 

This program has received enthusiastic response and achieved success and created a positive impact in the local community. This Community Program is part of the university's initiative in raising awareness and student involvement in social development with longhouse residents. In addition, it can enhance the experience for the students in experiencing the atmosphere of the longhouse area which is also understood as symbolic of Sarawak society.

One thing that has attracted attention in making this program a success is that the students have united in various community development projects, from mural painting art projects to facilities improvement programmes around the longhouse area. The active involvement of the residents of the longhouse has fostered the spirit of gotong - royong which indirectly strengthens social interference among the residents of the longhouse with the students.

 

The handing over of these flower seedlings is not only intended to be symbolic of the program, but also to give the crops produced by the UPMKB students themselves. In addition, it is also to restore the surrounding area of ​​the longhouse with the fruit of the flower tree seedlings to maintain the beauty of nature in the area.

 

After handing over the seedlings to Meikle Ding's home harvest, Dr. Abdul Hadi, Dr. Amni and top committee members from DPM 4th semester students together helped to plant the saplings that had been donated to the residents of the long house to give beauty to the surrounding area of ​​the longhouse. This is also symbolic of community programs that aim to maintain and care for nature.
