A TOTAL OF 40 PERBEKAL MEMBERS FROM BRUNEI HAD A GOODWILL VISIT TO BINTULU

A total of 40 members of the Kampung Lambak Youth Association (PerBeKaL) from Brunei Darussalam held a goodwill visit to Bintulu, recently.

The visit was led by the President of PerBeKaL, Pengiran Nordin Pengiran Mahmud. Representing the youth of Bintulu, Kederi Yusof said the series of visits was to gain knowledge with the youth in Bintulu, to strengthen friendships with youth associations, youth entrepreneurs and local community leaders.

He said that among the places visited by PerBeKaL during the three-day, two-night program was Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB).

“At the university, the group was warmly welcomed by the College Principal and Head of Student Affairs of UPMKB, Dr Kamil Latif and the Senior Assistant Registrar of Sri Rajang College UPMKB, Rosidah Basir,” he said accompanying the group's visit.

At UPMKB, he said, the group was taken to visit the library, laboratory and deer farm in the campus.

In the evening, the group attended a dinner with Pemanca Pengiran Merais Pengiran Ismail who is also the Chairman of the Bintulu Small Entrepreneurs Association (PUKB) at his residence, Jalan Tanjung Batu here.

The group also visited the Wholesale Market at Bintulu's Old Airport Site and visited the home of Bintulu woman entrepreneur, Razuna Kiprawi, famous for making belacan under the company, Monanie Family Enterprise.

Another location visited was the Bintulu Auditorium and a familiarization session with the staff of the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Bintulu Division and its Officer-in-Charge, Upin Mering.

The PerBeKaL group also participated in aerobics and sports events with the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) and the UPMKB PEMADAM Club as well as members of the Sarawak Bumiputera Business Council (DUBS), the Bintulu Benevolent Volunteer Organization and several other non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

He said PerBeKaL was also invited by the Assyakirin Archery Club for an archery session at the Assyakirin Bintulu Mosque managed by the Chairman of the Assyakirin Modern Traditional Archery Club (ATMA) Bintulu, Bujang Ham.

The group's last visit was to the Single Mother Association Cooperative in Kampung Assyakirin Bintulu and had a meal at the home of Bintulu Single Mother Deputy Chairman, Aishah Peri.

Some of the agencies that made the visit successful were the Bintulu District Information Office, the Bintulu Development Board (BDA), UPMKB as well as the Bintulu Resident's Office and several non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
