A CULTURE OF INNOVATION POWERS STUDENTS TO RESULT IN TECHNOLOGICAL PRODUCTS

BINTULU: The culture of innovation fostered among students is able to empower them in producing technologically advanced products by using innovative and imaginative expertise through scientific principles.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Dato Majang Renggi said that students with knowledge and skills that go beyond the limits of textbooks are invaluable when they start their career path in the future.

The Samalaju state assemblyman said innovation is a way to create products that include creativity and an important driving force in society today.

"Innovation drives problem solving and progress, leading to change in our community and economy," he said at the Closing Ceremony of the Borneo International Innovation and Invention Competition (BIIIC) 2023 themed 'Innovative Generation' at Dewan Sri Kenyalang Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) here, yesterday afternoon.

He said, innovation improves the functioning of individuals and society, improves work efficiency and paves the way for new job opportunities and services.

Therefore, he described the 2023 Borneo International Innovation and Design Competition as a catalyst to foster a culture of innovation among students and educators in all schools, technical institutions and higher learning centers.

According to him, the experience, knowledge and technical expertise gained during this competition will be a valuable asset in achieving future career fields.

He said, the participation of a total of 94 participants from primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and higher education institutions has contributed to the efforts to increase the cultivation of a culture of innovation and creativity among students. /p>

The competition was judged by 14 experts in related fields including five international experts from Cambodia, Thailand, China, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam who have evaluated this inventive creation.

"I believe this competition has sparked interest in applied technology and encouraged some to pursue a career in scientific research, paving the way for transformation to become future scientists, revealing new technologies, change paths, addressing challenges and increasing competitiveness," he explained.

Also present were Bintulu Vocational College (KV) Director Sahibi Salleh, UPMKB Campus Director Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini, Senior Assistant Director of Education Curriculum Sector, Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Curriculum Development Cluster and TVET Programme, Hafidzah Omar representing the Director of Education and Vocational Technical Training Ministry of Education Malaysia (M).

Deputy Officer (Planning Sector) Bintulu District Education Office (PPD) Yusuf Harbi represented the director of the Sarawak Department of Education, Matang Vocational College Director Arni Suhaili and the President of the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) KV Bintulu Gelau Sungei.
