35 students QKK2101 Group 4 Academic Session 2022/2023 in collaboration with the Student Affairs of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) had organized a face-to-face Student Service Program at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Baru, Bintulu on 20 and 21 November.

The purpose of this program is to strengthen the relationship among the public and UPMKB staff as well as to provide exposure to students on the importance of English at the primary school level as a second language in Malaysia.

According to QKK2101 program director Muhammad Ezzad Ezwandi Mat Derih, this activity was done to hone the knowledge of the students involved.

Apart from that, the program was implemented using English, which is to attract students to learn and explore the language.

This program is not only held to strengthen the relationship between the foreign community and UPMKB staff but also to provide exposure to primary school students in English through various English games and competitions.

Among the activities carried out during the two days of the program were Ice Breaking, Treasure Hunt with seven different check points and Choral Speaking competitions involving SK Kampung Baru students from years four and five.

The program, which was participated by 91 participants comprising students of SK Kampung Baru, students of Group 4, escort lecturers and escort teachers, was progressing smoothly and all the participants involved were very satisfied with the success of the program.

Although it was carried out in just two days, all parties involved were relieved to have achieved the mission set and achieved the plans of all parties.

It is hoped that more English programs can be organized so that more communities are aware of the importance of the language for learning after stepping into the realm of work and in everyday life.
