Introduction:
The project focuses on understanding the response of pepper root when under the attack of root knot nematode Substantial agricultural losses are caused by nematodes each year throughout the world. Currently, measures to control plant-parasitic nematodes are limited and include the use of agrochemicals such as methyl bromide or planting crops that have natural resistance. However these strategies have their shortcomings when putting it into practices. In this study we aimed to decipher the molecular mechanism of gall formation with an in vitro infection assay system using RKN Meloidogyne incognita. By taking advantages of this system, we will perform RT PCR to identify plant genes induced by the adaptation of the parasite to its host environment. The identification of these genes will be valuable resources for creating new forms of durable plant resistance. This project is funded by GP-IPB/SPP/2018.
