ENTREPRENEURIAL activity is a catalyst for economic development as well as acting as the main driving force in enhancing the level of innovation, creativity, and competitiveness of a country. Entrepreneurial skills are one of the skills encouraged in higher education to produce quality, innovative and creative human capital.

PUTRA UPTOWN 2022 program facilitator, Dr Sharon Ong said: “The entrepreneurial component introduced through such carnival activities enables UP- MKB students to think critically and creatively in highlighting their practical potential and expressing interest in entrepreneurship”.

Thus, students from the QKH2104 credit co-curricular course took the initiative to hold the PUTRA UPTOWN 2022 program at Kolej Sri Rajang, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus, Sarawak (UPMKB).

The PUTRA UPTOWN 2022 program is a carnival activity program based on the concept of ‘uptown’ and business activities that brings together participation from students and the Bintulu community. Various types of food and entertainment stalls such as karaoke, “MLBB tournament”, and “mini game” have been prepared.

According to Afdhal Ilhami Afdhal Lutfi, the director of the PUTRA UPTOWN 2022 program, the program has achieved its objective of providing a platform for UPMKB students to do business, besides adding knowledge on program management and business to UPMKB students.

Participants, stall owners, and visitors who participated in the program responded positively and they hoped that the same program could be organized again with collaboration with other parties and further diversified program activities.
