LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION SKILLS ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF THE PERSONALITY FORM OF SELF

BINTULU: Leadership and communication skills are not a stranger nowadays but are essential elements of soft skills in shaping one's personality.

This was highlighted through the Bahas Putra Competition 2022 organized by students of the Group 101 Submission Arts, Semester 1 Academic Session 2022/2023 which was held on 12 November at the Dewan Kuliah Pusat, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB).

The program aims to enhance communication skills and apply ethical attitude in communicating as well as conveying opinions through thoughtful and relevant arguments in accordance with their age.

The inaugural scientific debate was successfully uncovered by spontaneous debate through proposals covering educational topics, youth personality and environmental issues.

The program director Fatin Najihah said the Bahas Putra Competition provides a platform for all students to debate the proposals that are being discussed in the community today.

She said this could help improve the ability to communicate ethically on the right channels for them to convey opinions by supporting evidence from authentic and reliable sources.

“The purpose of this competition is to foster the interest of all students in new fields such as debate.

“Our hope is that every student can take this opportunity to deliver a parliamentary-style argument,” she said when met here yesterday.

She said the program can produce a more disciplined and knowledgeable generation through similar competitions.

“Not only that through this competition our country is able to produce a generation that is wise in arguing and even capable of being a great leader in the future,” she said.
