BINTULU: The 'Be Our Next VolleyStar' webinar became the best platform to develop skills in volleyball and its organizing was well received by the sports fans in the country.

Thus, students of the QKS2120 Volleyball Credit Co-Curriculum Course (Group 1) Second Semester of Academic Session 2021/2022 Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) successfully organised the 'Be Our Next VolleyStar' webinar on 5 March.

Course facilitator Roslan Ismail said, through this webinar, students can apply the technical and soft skills learned as well as learn how to operate a program especially in today's endemic situation.

He said every participant and student will have a desire to enter volleyball but they will be overwhelmed by the dilemma of comparing themselves to the talented.

"This webinar aims to create a passion and provide guidance to young people who want to get into volleyball," he said yesterday.

He said the webinar includes two slots, 'The Emotional Benefits of Volleyball' and 'Sports Dilemma: Talent or Effort?' which allow students to assess their own inclinations or interests.

He said he strives to become a slap ball player of caliber and has a solid foundation through the basic education of slap balls that have been learned in the course.

Vennesa programme director Anne Brown said the webinar was expected to have a positive impact on the organisers and participants in achieving the objectives of the programme.

"The students' knowledge will not be limited to their respective fields but they will also be able to expand their knowledge in different fields than usual as this program is one of the preparatory steps to enter volleyball," he said at the closing ceremony of the 298 participants' programme.

Obviously, the ability to think critically and creatively in applying what is learned and adding knowledge in different fields allows them to be more competitive in the job market.

Thus, he said, the students' knowledge will not be limited to a specific field but they will also be able to expand their knowledge in different fields than usual.

He said the programme is a preparatory step to start something new at any time and hopes that the programme will continue next year.
