The closing ceremony of the UPMKB Agripreneurship Incubation Program 2019 was officiated by Prof. Dr. Dr. B. K. Huat, Campus Director, University Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) on January 31, 2020 (Friday) at the 2A Central Lecture Hall, UPMKB. The event was also attended by the Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ong Kian Huat, Director of University Agricultural Park and Development and the coordinator of UPMKB Agripreneurship Incubation Unit as well as Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anjas Asmara @Ab. Hadi Bin Samsudin, Deputy Dean of Development, Industry and Community Network, Faculty of Agriculture, UPM Serdang.
The programme has received strong support from the Ministry of Education (MOE) Malaysia and UPM. The MOE had allocated funds for UPMKB to implement the program. The objective of this Agripreneurship Incubation Programme is to produce excellent and credible entrepreneurs and prepare them for agricultural projects. This is in line with the government's aspiration to produce more entrepreneurs in agriculture as well as boost the country's food production.
The program has 2 modules, the Poultry Production module and the Fish Cage Farming module with 6 participants having successfully completed the programme.
The UPMKB Agripreneurship Incubation Unit will start another round of programme offering planned for June 2020 targeting fresh graduates, with at least a Diploma and below 30 years old, who are keen to become Agripreneurs.
