Tree Planting, Bintulu Public Park Restoration Phase 1

Today, 7 July 2018, UPM Bintulu Sarawak Campus have collaborated with Rotary Club of Bintulu, Bintulu Development Authority and CIMB Bank Bintulu branch to plant 3000 seedlings from more than 20 indigenous tree species at Bukit Nyabau in Bintulu Public Park area.

The project is made positive through CIMB Foundation community link grant awarded to Rotary Club of Bintulu. BDA is the custodian of the Public Park. UPM provided advisory expertise in forest restoration.

Today, a total of 3000 forest seedlings are planted by 150 participants from CIMB, BDA, Rotory Club of Bintulu and UPM Bintulu Sarawak Campus staff and students. Dr. Ong Kian Huat is the organizing chairmen of this project.

This is the first phase of the project. The second phase will involve planting 2000 seedlings. The event will involve Bintulu public community. The project aim to restore degraded or damaged forest area, so the functionality of the forest.
