At the opening of "The International Conference On Forest Resources Management 2021" on 10 December 2021 at Promenade, Bintulu which was officiated by YAB Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, Chief Minister of Sarawak.

The ceremony was also attended by YB Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Anak Utom, Minister of Utilities Sarawak, YB Datuk Haji Talib Bin Zulpilip, Minister in the Chief Minister's Department of Sarawak (Integrity and Ombudsman), YBhg. Prof. Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and YBhg. Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini, Director of UPM Bintulu Sarawak Campus.

During the opening ceremony, the YAB Chief Minister of Sarawak also announced the allocation of the Forest Resource Management Research Hub fund to UPM Bintulu Campus of RM 10.95 Million.

The allocation of research hub funds from the Sarawak State Government is in line with and further strengthens UPM's direction referring to the UPM Strategic Plan 2021-2025 on its second goal which is to create a Research and Innovation Hub that Generates Sustainable Ecosystem-Based Value.
