Bintulu - March 28, 2023, Putra Agricultural Centre (PPP), UPMKB received an official working visit from RISDA Sarawak, RISDA smallholders as well as representatives from the Bintulu Division Veterinary Services Department and the Department of Agriculture Sarawak Bintulu Division to discuss the Sarawak State Level RISDA Agrofood Program (JPAMN) for the Poultry and Quail Farming project.
Tuan Shaharuddin Bin Saberi (Director of Sarawak State RISDA), informed that such a program is an initiative by RISDA as a platform to respond to the government's call (National Agrofood Policy 2021 – 2030) in reducing dependence on imported goods, instead boosting the food industry in the country which leads to increased profit levels and resulting in more efficient agricultural production processes, sustainable and resilient.
A total of five (5) smallholders from Kpg. Sg. Selamak & five (5) smallholders from Kpg. Sepadok, Bintulu will be involved in the Agrofood Project for Poultry and Quails in collaboration with UPMKB.
Meanwhile, representatives from PPP, UPMKB who were also present at the knowledge sharing session consisted of YBrs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amy Halimah binti Rajaee (Deputy Director, PPP, UPMKB), Dr. Carlina Freddie Simol @ Rachellynna (Head of Livestock and Aquaculture Division), Mr. Nalong Buda (Head of Plant and Forestry Division), Mr. Sat Maling (Head of Services, Farm and Landscape Engineering), Dr. Zaidi Suif (Agricultural Officer), Ms. Josephine Jawai Makos (Assistant Agricultural Officer) and Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Hidayat Bin Brawi (photographer), as well as a representative from the Department of Veterinary Services Bintulu Division, Mr. Lusat Aneng Apoi and the Department of Agriculture of Sarawak, Bintulu Division, Mr. Alex Ding.
The appreciation is also directed to the Director of UPMKB Campus, Prof. Dr. Shahrul Razid Sarbini for always providing encouragement and support to PPP, UPMKB. It is hoped that such cooperation can be continued with other agencies in the future to be in line with Malaysia's commitment to develop the economy and improve the country's progress and economy in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors.
