The UPM Bintulu Sarawak Campus in collaboration with the Petronas Sports and Recreation Club Bintulu (KSRP) launched an Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Design Programme dubbed PUTRA ENTREPRENEUR AND INNOVATION 2019 at MPC Hall, Kidurong Bintulu Club on September 28-29, 2019. The programme was attended by students from primary and secondary schools and the general public from around Bintulu. Through this programme, innovation and entrepreneurship are seen as distinct yet inseparable in that they are related and dependent on one another. An innovation is an attempt to produce better quality products in a way that either improves or modifies existing products in the market. Entrepreneurs are individuals or groups of individuals who set up or run their own businesses and grow them over time for the prosperity of their community and nation.

PUTRA ENTREPRENEUR AND INNOVATION 2019 is expected to have a positive impact on the organisers and participants as set out in the programme's objectives. Furthermore, being able to leverage the talents of the younger generation through exposure to information and application of knowledge to foster the habit of thinking critically, creatively would certainly help drive innovations. Participants also spent their time discovering information technology and learning to manage their time strategically. Finally, the programme helped participants to produce quality output as results of critical thinking. The programme was made possible by first semester academic session 2019/2020--students taking the credited curriculum QKH2104 Student Entrepreneurial Course and QKI2101 Innovation and Design under the guidance of facilitator En. Roslan Bin Ismail and Mr. Jonaes Townsend Anak Augustine Mapang.
