PUTRA BAKTI@KNOWINGISEMPOWERING INSTILLS COMMUNITY AWARENESS

BINTULU: Covid-19 that hit our country is seen to have a huge impact on our daily lives. The limitations for us to perform our daily routines with new normative conditions that sometimes require us to remain sitting at home are seen to affect the psychological health of society. As a result, every day more and more cases related to mental health, emotional stress and even actions beyond the normal limits of thought are often reported in the local and international media. The problem of cyberbullying is also becoming more widespread so that it seems to have no end. Looking at this scenario, students of Course QKK2101 Bakti Siswa (Group 2), Second Semester of Academic Session 2020/2021, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) have taken the initiative to organize the Putra Bakti@KnowingIsEmpowering program. The main purpose of this program is to provide awareness to the affected community and hopefully be able to curb to prevent further transmission. Apart from that, this program also emphasizes the children of down syndrome and because it is seen that there are still many people who are still sceptical of the children of heaven. To comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in force to break the Covid-19 chain, this program has been implemented through an alternative online method (webinar).

Program Director Nurul Fajrina Nadirah Binti Abdullah Annuar said health education and family spirit are the main focus of this program. He said the program is expected to provide comprehensive awareness to the community on the issues discussed by the panel. Apart from that, he also hopes that this program can provide motivation and a positive impact to the community to be more responsible in playing the role of mothers and fathers in creating a happy family that is desired by everyone. He added, it is hoped that all the knowledge shared by the speakers throughout the program can be applied in life and can benefit the family, community and country.

The program which was implemented on 23 - 24 October 2021 includes 6 seminar slots featuring experienced speakers from various fields such as Learn to Care - En. Rosli Bin Yacop (Vice President, Down Syndrome Malaysia Paradise Flowers Association), The Meaning of Happiness in a Family - Tuan Haji Husini Bin Haji Bakir, (Divisional Administrative Officer, Kuching Islamic Religious Department, Sarawak), Non -Optional Stress - En. Norhasdi Bin Hassan (Great Impact Resources Motivation Specialist, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah), Mental Health: Facts Or Myths - Dr Antony Hii (Chairman of IBS Miri College, Sarawak), Stop Bullying, Start Caring - Dr Mohammad Basri Bin Mohammad Saad (Science Secondary School Teacher Bagan Datoh, Perak), and Love Is The Best Medicine - En. Shahril Bin Sabri (Edutainment Motivator, Seed4Future Content Guru).

In the meantime, Program Advisor and Course Facilitator QKK2101 Bakti Siswa (Group 1), Ts. Dr Suhaili Mustafa said, organizing a program like this can give a good impact on students to strengthen their Soft Skills. These elements of skills are very important for students in maturing and can only be obtained through the organization of such programs and not in the classroom alone. He also emphasized that the management of the program using a webinar platform like this is very good and effective in conveying information and awareness to the community because the network of participants will be wider. This can be seen with the cumulative reach of 750 participants for the six seminars which are all from different districts and states.
