NEWLY DONATED AMBULANCE VAN FOR UPM BINTULU

MIRI: Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad (SOPB) donated RM10,000 to Universiti Putra Malaysia Kampus Bintulu (UPMKB) for the purchase of an ambulance van for its students’ use on campus.

The purchase of the new ambulance van is to replace the existing one which is already beyond its lifespan and uneconomical to be maintained, SOPB stated.

It disclosed that the handing over ceremony was held at SOPB Bintulu Downstream Complex yesterday whereby SOPB Controller (Operations) Kiu Kwong Chiang handed over the cash contribution to UPMKB Campus director Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sharini.

According to Kiu, SOPB emphasises the essential of education and through the small contribution, it will help support the university’s efforts to promote the welfare and wellbeing of its students.

“This is also to encourage the university students to pursue their dream in a safe, healthy, and inclusive learning environment,” he pointed out.

SOPB aims to be an active contributor to local community development through organising of various economic and social contribution programmes, he further stated.

“This is to contribute to the needs and wellbeing of the local communities in the fields of employment, education, healthcare and others,” he added.
