THREE-NATION COOPERATION PLATFORM KUUB, ASSEMBLE 16 UNIVERSITIES IN BORNEO

KUCHING: A total of 16 public and government-owned universities in the Borneo archipelago have been successfully assembled through the inaugural three-day consortium of the University of Borneo (KUUB) led by Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB), here, starting Monday.

MSarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn in a speech read by his Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said he believed the creation of KUUB would also raise awareness on the diversity of cultures, arts, customs, and races as well as foster regional integration between Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.

"Looking ahead, we hope that there will be projects or programs planned after this consortium between still in 2023 or 2024./p>

"The Ministry is fully committed to supporting and assisting the KUUB, and we expect all participating universities and ministries to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to strengthen the establishment of KUUB.

Datuk Dr Annuar, who represented Datuk Roland, also presented souvenirs as a token of appreciation to each university involved.

Also present were Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia Dato' Professor Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, Permanent Secretary of MEITD Azmi Bujang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) of Universiti Putra Malaysia Professor Dr Ismi Arif Ismail, Director of Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus Professor Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini and Chief Assistant Director of the Education, Loan and Repayment Division of Yayasan Sarawak Watson Chunggat Leornard Doo.

The ceremony ended with all the attendees enjoying a break of fast together.
