Bintulu, December 09 - For the first time, the Japanese Film Festival 2013 was held at Dewan Sri Kenyalang, Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB) from 07 to December 8, 2013. For the Bintulu Division, this is the second time since last year's festival (2012). A total of seven films screened during the two-day program runs. In addition, there are also activities such as Japanese language workshop, origami workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations Japanese clothing (Yukata and School Uniform) and food demonstrations.
Japanese Film Festival 2013 was organized by the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with UPMKB and main sponsors are Mitsubishi Corporation. The opening ceremony was officiated by Tuan Haji Muhamad Yakup bin Kari, Resident of Bintulu. Joining him as the guest of honor is Mr. Koichi Wada, General Manager of Mitsubishi Corporation Malaysia, Mr. Shoichi Toyoda, Director of the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur and Professor Dr. Japar Sidik bin Bujang, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, UPMKB.
Muhamad Yakup in his speech, express congratulations to all those who have managed to organize this program. He also expects the program will continue in the future and gain the cooperation of other parties. He added that the program indirectly has diversified activities in the Bintulu Division and encourage university students to take the opportunity to attend the activities held as experiential learning.
