On the success of the Tripartite MoU between the Sarawak Forest Department - Sime Darby Plantation - Universiti Putra Malaysia, for a tree planting programme in the High Conservation Value area, Sime Darby Bintulu Region.
The goal of this MoU is Sime Darby's joint venture to conserve and to plant local forest trees in Sime Darby's High Conservation Value area in the province of Bintulu. The Sarawak Forest Department will provide assistance in terms of seedlings, and UPMKB will be involved in forest tree planting activities through joint expansion activities. This Tripartite MoU effort is led by Dr Zamri Rosli, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Forestry, UPMKB.
The Sarawak Forest Department was represented by Sarawak Forest Director, Datu Hamden Mohammad, Sime Darby was represented by Sime Darby Plantation Sarawak Regional CEO, Mr Khairul Nizam Idris, and UPM was represented by the Director, UPM Bintulu Sarawak Campus, Assoc Prof Dr Shahrul Razid Sarbini.
The Tripartite MoU ceremony was witnessed by YAB Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg, in conjunction with Sarawak state level celebration of the International Forest Day on 26 March 2021 at Bukit Soil, Kuching, Sarawak.
