The host of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) won the 44th Malaysia Public University Staff Games (SUKUM) in 2022!. The championship was won after UPM managed to collect 18 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze.
Vice-Chancellor of UPM, YH. Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman said he was proud of the achievements of UPM's staff of athletes who successfully qualified UPM as the overall champion of SUKUM 2022.
"This is the first time UPM has been a champion and I am grateful to all UPM staff especially the staff of UPM athletes and volunteers who helped in the success of SUKUM's organization here," he said.
He added that SUKUM is a platform to foster closer ties and family among higher learning institutions in the country through sports as well as to lift the sports culture in their respective institutions.
"I believe that through sports events such as SUKUM, it can further enhance the mental and physical resilience of human resources as well as to increase the well-being index among staff," he said.
Meanwhile, second place was held by Universiti Malaysia Perlis with 17 gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze.
The eight-day SUKUM contested 18 sporting events and offered 136 gold, 136 silver and 196 bronze medals. In addition, 400 volunteers were also involved in SUKUM 2022.
