Themed ‘People, Planet, and Profit', Congress on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (COSAFS) 2022 brought together 300 scientists, academicians, producers, researchers, policy-makers and industry players in the sustainable food security industry from Malaysia, Jordan, Thailand, Nigeria and Philippines to learn about sustainable farming techniques, innovation and technology, community food systems, national and global food policies, and programmes that promotes sustainable agriculture and food security.

Sarawak Premier, The Right Honourable Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg, stated that production processes (for livestock and crops) has to be upgraded, emphasising on IoT and digital infrastructure in 5G to identify, monitor and control their livestock and crops using technology.

He also announced that the Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture and Regional Development Sarawak is now known as Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development.

COSAFS2022 is organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Kampus Bintulu Sarawak from 21-24 September 2022 at Waterfront Hotel Kuching.
